Casein is a milk-based permanent paint that can last thousands of years

Casein is similar to oil in vibrancy and durability. It was replaced by Acrylic in the 60s for ease of use and maintenance. I prefer Casein to all other plein air mediums for rapid dry time that allows glazing techniques in the field. The paint is made from dry artists pigments mixed with whey emulsion and mulled into a smooth buttery consistency.
